Strong voices: Our life, Our words, Our story
The American Indian Women's Service League grant project provided young women
with the tools, knowledge, and technical training to write, produce, announce, and
broadcast the stories of women in their communities. Their goals were to expose women
to the world of media and communications; extract cultural values and teachings
from our elders; promote intergenerational communication and transfer knowledge;
and preserve oral stories and history. During the project oral history interviews with Mary Jo Butterfield and Connie Roque were collected.
