The San Juan Historical Museum
Oral History Project

The oral history project digitized existing oral histories for use by the Historical Museum, local libraries and local schools to teach about the early settlers of the San Juan Islands. In addition, a Public Service Announcement (PSA) video was produced to highlight a few of the important contributions of people mentioned in the oral histories. Funding from this grant was used for the digitization of women's oral histories and for the parts of the PSA about women. In fact, the vast majority of the oral histories (20) are about and from the women of San Juan Islands. Transcriptions were completed for oral histories audible enough to ensure an accurate transcription, approximately fifteen oral histories.
