White River Valley Museum Exhibit-- Abby Williams Hill, Western Pioneer and Landscape Artist. In 1889 when Washington became a state Abby Williams Hill and her husband arrived in Tacoma in response to advertisements acclaiming the magnificence of Northwest mountain scenery. During the following years Abby Hill produced dozens of landscape paintings which were commissioned by railroad companies to extol the virtues of northwest scenery.
